Graham Avenue, The Heart of Latino Williamsburg
Our Commercial District & Neighborhood Story
For generations, Graham Avenue has been the vibrant commercial heart of this dynamic East Williamsburg, Brooklyn neighborhood. More than just a thoroughfare, it's a place where community thrives, businesses flourish, and a rich cultural heritage is celebrated every day.
Co-named the Avenue of Puerto Rico, this stretch of Graham Avenue, from Boerum to Broadway, has been the center of a thriving Latino community since the mid-20th century. This street co-naming serves as a constant reminder of this rich cultural identity. The vibrant energy and strong sense of pride are evident in the businesses that make our district their home, the community events that bring people together, and the enduring spirit of this evolving neighborhood.

But the story of Graham Avenue extends even further back. From its early days as a modest road serving a growing Williamsburg, it has evolved into a busy and resilient thoroughfare, adapting to the needs of its residents while retaining its unique character. Growing regional brands, local shops and family-owned businesses have long been the backbone of this commercial district, focused on bringing affordable shopping to the surrounding community they serve while creating a welcoming and neighborly atmosphere that sets it apart.
Today, the Graham Avenue BID builds upon this legacy, working to support and enhance the commercial district for the benefit of the entire community. We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant and welcoming environment where businesses can thrive, and residents can access the goods and services they need.
Come and experience the energy of Graham Avenue – the Avenue of Puerto Rico – where commerce, community and culture come together.
